Constance E. Lund
Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance, OneAmerica
Indianapolis, Indiana
Connie Lund has walked in the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon three times and was honored to drive the pace car in the wheelchair division this year. Even with such energy and dedication to fitness and sport, Lund appreciates the Executive Health Program keeping her on track in regard to her wellness schedule. "To me it's one of the best benefits because they make it so easy to get checked every year," she notes, adding, "They are on time, organized, and add a personal touch. Every person in the office makes you feel welcome."
Like many of the Executive Health participants, Lund comments on how Dr. Busk lauds the benefits of walking as part of a health and wellness program. "Dr. Busk is encouraging about exercise and walking. He whips out those statistics and you can't argue," she says with a laugh. Those statistics indicate that people who walk an average of three miles a day have the potential to reduce their risk of disease by fifty percent. That was enough to help convince Lund to join a training program in preparation for the 13.1-mile Mini Marathon. "It met once a week and forced me to take the time to do it," she says.
Receiving information specific to personal wellness is a key part of the Executive Health Program. Not only has Lund learned more about the benefits of exercise, she also has found ways of getting the most from a workout. "People within the program have helped me with strength exercises by showing me the correct ways to do things," she says.
While Lund has always been active, she explains that Executive Health keeps her motivated. "I appreciate that they reinforce the good things I'm already doing in terms of health and fitness. They encourage me, "What are Lund's future wellness goals? "To keep the exercise going so that, one day, I can enjoy retirement. You need to be healthy to enjoy it."
