About our Research

The Indiana University Division of Infectious Diseases faculty and affiliated faculty have an active research portfolio supported by NIH, CDC, various foundations and industry. It includes:  Basic science research in bacterial pathogenesis, HPV, Malaria,  HIV, Hepatitis C, and Toxoplasmosis;  Clinical trials in HIV, HPV, and sexually transmitted infections (STI); Diagnostic trials for STIs; Epidemiologic studies of STIs, HIV, and Malaria; Implementation science research (Domestic and International) in HIV; Research related to HIV complications and; research related to hospital acquired infections.

 

 

Global Health Research

The global health research within the Infectious Diseases Division is conducted in collaboration with the Indiana University Center for Global Health.  Infectious Diseases faculty and affiliated faculty in global health include:

Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials

The Indiana University Infectious Diseases Research (IUIDR) Team  is the clinical trials research group for the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Indiana Center for AIDS Research
The Infectious Diseases Division, Department of Medicine, in collaboration with the Pulmonary Division, Department of Medicine, the Section of Infectious Diseases and Global Health, Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology has established an institutional Center for AIDS Research.

Infectious Diseases Laboratory
The Infectious Diseases Laboratory (IDL) has provided research support services for multiple investigators as well as clinical diagnostic services for multiple healthcare facilities since 1983. Dr. Ken Fife is the Director, Dr. Aaron Ermel is the Assistant Director, and Mr. Jim Williams is the Laboratory Manager.

T32: Training in Sexually Transmitted Infections
In collaboration with other divisions and departments, the Infectious Diseases Division leverages its extensive research portfolio to train tomorrow’s scientist through the T32: Training in Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Other Infections of Global Health Significance(TSTI-OIGHS).
