Bio

Dr. Kyritsi’s primary research focuses on the study of cholangiopathies. Her projects regard the evaluation and the role that cholangiocytes/hepatic stellate cells/hepatocytes and macrophages play in the development of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Her research also includes determining the interactions between the various cells of liver and on the study of the mechanisms by which these cells contribute to proliferation/fibrosis/senescence and apoptosis; processes that play a pivotal role in the cholangiopathies. Dr. Kyritsi currently oversees many projects that planning the experiments, interpret the data and write manuscripts. She has published over 30 scientific articles, submitted more than 100 abstracts such first authorship or co-authorship and participated in meetings and conferences such American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), Digestive Disease Week (DDW), and Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB).
