Internal Medicine Residency

International Health

In 1990, the IU School of Medicine, developed a partnership with the Moi University Medical School in Eldoret, Kenya, for training in international health. Innumerable healthcare providers have crossed the ocean in both directions as part of this ongoing partnership. What started out as a learning experience in tropical medicine has grown into an international model for HIV care in Africa, recently nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for its expansive approach to improving the communities previously devastated by the HIV epidemic. Residents have an opportunity to work for two months in the Moi system in Kenya and can elect to serve an additional year there after graduation as the on-site Chief Resident.
