Dr. Brater is a member of ASCI and AAP. He is President of the Association of Professors of Medicine. He is also President of the Central Society for Clinical Research and the United States Pharmacopoeia. He is the Chairman of the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology and of the Council of Medical Specialties of ACP-ASIM. He is a past president for the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and past Chair of the Clinical Pharmacology Executive Committee of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. Dr. Brater was Chair of the Department of Medicine from 1991 - 2000. He is now Dean of the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dean Brater was recently named the first president of the Academic Alliance of Internal Medicine.
