Darron Brown, M.D.
Dr. Darron Brown

Dr. Brown received his M.D. at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and completed his residency in medicine and fellowship in infectious diseases at the same institution. He joined the faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine in 1989, and received the Young Investigator Award in Virology from the Infectious Diseases Society of America in 1990. Dr. Brown is now Professor of Medicine and Professor of Microbiology and Immunology. Dr. Brown’s research focuses on the human papillomavirus (HPV), the causative agent of cervical cancer. He has published numerous papers on HPV pathogenesis, carcinogenesis, and epidemiology. Dr. Brown is the Director of the recently established Indiana University Center for Vaccine Research and Development. Dr. Brown received the Tony and Mary Hulman Health Achievement Award for his work in developing a recently FDA-approved vaccine to prevent HPV and cervical cancer.
