Harvey Feigenbaum, M.D., who is the father of echocardiography, is the editor of the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography. A former Louis F. Bishop Lecturer of the American College of Cardiology and Lewis Conner lecturer of the American Heart Association, he was also made a Distinguished Scientist of the American Heart Association, which is the highest award that organization presents. He was the founder and first president of the American Society of Echocardiography. He is author of the first and leading textbook in echocardiography, which has been translated into multiple languages and is now in its 6th edition. He has won numerous national and international awards for his pioneering work in developing echocardiography, the most popular cardiac imaging technique in the world.
