Dr. Wilkes is director of the Center for Immunobiology at the Indiana University School of Medicine, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Thoracic Society and Chair of its Assembly on Allergy, Immunology, and Inflammation. He served on the Board of Directors for the American Thoracic Society from 2005-2007 and serves as member of the National Advisory Council of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at NIH. He served as co-chair for the Workshop on Lung Transplantation: Opportunities for Research and Clinical Advancement, National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, Division of Lung Diseases. His research focuses on the mechanisms of rejection in lung transplantation. He is also an avid cyclist.
