Ambulatory Training

Ambulatory Care Block for PGY-1
The intern will participate in a one-month rotation devoted solely to ambulatory care. During these months interns spend their time in the outpatient clinics located in the campus hospitals and also in private offices in Indianapolis. Interns are assigned to a broad variety of clinics to gain exposure to many fields during the month. The core experience includes clinic sessions in general internal medicine, infectious diseases (HIV), endocrinology, dermatology, neurology and urgent care. In addition, interns also participate in weekly case-based, interactive didactic sessions, complete interactive web-based computer modules on important ambulatory topics, receive special training in geriatrics using a variety of learning modules, participate in workshops on physician-patient communication skills, Endo/Diabetes, and some may participate in the multidisciplinary PRIME clinic.
