Ambulatory Care Block for PGY-2
The resident will participate in a one-month rotation devoted solely to ambulatory care. This month differs slightly from the first year in that residents are able to select preferences for clinics that interest them. During these months, residents spend their time in the outpatient clinics located in the campus hospitals and also in private offices in Indianapolis. The menu of specialty clinics available includes pulmonary, cardiology, rheumatology, infectious diseases, endocrinology, hematology, oncology, renal, dermatology, neurology, radiology, sports medicine, pre-op clinic, allergy, adolescent medicine, gastroenterology, cystic fibrosis, ENT, gynecology, orthopedics, podiatry, and procedures. In addition, residents also participate in weekly case-based, interactive didactic sessions, complete interactive web-based computer modules on important ambulatory topics, and participate in workshops on medical coding, physician-patient communication skills, CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement), and cardiovascular exam skills.
