Advanced Ambulatory for PGY-3 and PGY-4 (Med-Peds)
The residents will participate in a one-month rotation called Advanced Ambulatory. This month provides our residents with exposure to many aspects of ambulatory care not covered else where in the program. Residents spend week-long modules in clinics focused on topics including asthma/allergy, managed care, practice management, wound care, complementary and alternative medicine, women’s health, and cardiac and pulmonary rehab (held at a nearby state-of-the-art fitness center: The National Institute for Fitness and Sports). Residents also have the option to "create their own" module. In addition, residents also participate in weekly case-based, interactive didactic sessions, complete interactive web-based computer modules on important ambulatory topics, present a critically appraised topic (CAT) to their junior colleagues in a morning report format, and receive special training in managed care using a computer-based learning module. This rotation is not offered in July.
