Hospitals and Call

Our housestaff rotate through four adult teaching hospitals: Indiana University Hospital, Wishard Memorial Hospital, the Roudebush VA Medical Center, and Methodist Hospital, all located on or near the 500-acre campus of Indiana and Purdue Universities in Indianapolis (IUPUI) west of downtown. The IUPUI campus as a whole hosts a large undergraduate student body and is home to schools of dentistry, law, business, nursing, allied health sciences, and many more.

Please click on a hospital name (below) for detailed information about that hospital.

As a result of training in these diverse venues, residents care for patients from the entire range of socioeconomic groups with a wide diversity of illnesses and health care needs. The combination of all four hospitals is unbeatable in helping trainees understand systems of care and to become versatile in applying best practices across different hospitals. The IU residents truly experience all the different models of care and can make informed decisions about what and where they would like to practice in the future.

The call schedules are represented by this chart but in general are no more than every 5th night on ward months except the ICUs where there is call every 4th night.
