Cardiology Consults
On this rotation, you will field cardiology consults from Medicine as well as non-Medicine services. You will be part of a team with a cardiology faculty member and fellow. At University, you will also read EKGs daily.

Cardiology Consults at Methodist
During this rotation, the resident's primary responsibility will be to work with a cardiology fellow on the Krannert Cardiology consult service where they will see a wide array of cardiovascular diseases. Further, there will be opportunities to learn more about non-invasive cardiac imaging by sitting with staff cardiologists and fellows as they interpret cardiac echocardiograms and nuclear imaging studies. You will be able observe procedures such as transesophageal echocardiograms and cardiac catheterizations if you make the proper arrangements. You are also encouraged to attend the various cardiology conferences. This elective is unique in that it can be structured according to the resident's primary interests in cardiology; however, it will also provide a well-rounded view of cardiology.

Treadmill Exercise Training Rotation
This elective is designed to meet the guidelines for Clinical Competence in Exercise Testing as recommended by the American College of Physicians/American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Task Force on Clinical Privileges in Cardiology. Residents who desire competence certification to perform treadmill stress testing should not schedule vacation during this rotation. Residents planning to do primary care general internal medicine will receive preferential placement for this rotation.
