Night Float - Wishard Hospital
This rotation is a non-vacation eligible, required upper-level rotation. Three residents per month will be assigned to this rotation. Night float residents will be assigned to 15 shifts for the month. Five of these shifts will be to cover the Wishard ICU call with an ICU intern. Ten of these shifts will be assigned to help manage admissions once the on call team has capped. In addition, the float residents participate in Midnight Rounds where they can help manage the night time work including doing procedures or participating in the Rapid Response Team. Resident responsibilities will include performing admissions, both in a supervisory role and independently, assisting with complicated cross-cover patients, attending "codes", performing effective changeover at both ends of the shift, and teaching interns and students when possible. During the "off" week, the resident will still be required to attend continuity clinic and participate in educational activities but will otherwise be free of clinical responsibilities. You may also have the opportunity to schedule make up clinics during the off week.
