Public Health Rotation
Medicine or medicine-pediatrics residents (PGY-2 or higher) may choose this month-long elective in public health. This elective includes exposure to the functions of public health; including assessments, policy development, and assurances; as well as primary service areas. This flexible rotation is designed to include a fixed, core group of experiences, with the addition of electives or even self-designed projects if desired. Example experiences include an emergency preparedness workshop, media training, epidemiology, chronic disease policy development, clinical case didactic discussions, TB case conferences, travel clinic, and refugee care clinic. For anyone interested, there are opportunities for exposure to both pediatrics and adult medicine, rural and urban issues. For a sample schedule or more information on available opportunities please contact the course director, Noelle Sinex.
